The Washington Nationals and the Philadelphia Phillies meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday night.

The Washington Nationals will look to build on a 5-2 win over the New York Mets from Sunday’s finale. Kyle Schwarber led the charge for the Nationals, belting three home runs with four total RBIs while Josh Bell added an RBI as well to cap off Washington’s scoring as a team in the win. Starlin Castro and Juan Soto each had two hits with a double and Gerardo Parra added a double as well while Victor Robles, Josh Harrison, Yan Gomes and Trea Turner each had a base hit to cap off Washington’s offense as a team in the win. Patrick Corbin got the win to improve to 5-5 after allowing two runs on four hits while striking out seven over six innings of work. Brad Hand picked up the save for his 15th save of the season. Max Scherzer will start this one and is 5-4 with a 2.21 ERA and 104 strikeouts this season. In His career, Scherzer is 12-4 with a 2.63 ERA and 182 strikeouts against the Phillies.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to rebound from an 11-2 drubbing at the hands of the Giants in Sunday’s series finale. J.T. Realmuto went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and both of Philadelphia’s RBIs while Matthew Vierling added a base hit as well as the Phillies had just four hits as a team in the losing effort. The rest of Philadelphia’s lineup went 0 for 24 with 7 strikeouts in the loss. Zach Eflin took the loss, falling to 2-6 on the year after allowing seven runs, six earned, on nine hits while striking out six over five innings of work. Zack Wheeler will start here and is 5-3 with a 2.15 ERA and 118 strikeouts this season. in his career, Wheeler is 6-12 with a 4.44 ERA and 116 strikeouts against Washington.

Washington is 7-1 in their last 8 games overall and 5-1 in their last 6 games following a win while the under is 10-1 in their last 11 games following an off day. Philadelphia is 4-0 in their last 4 home games and 5-1 in their last 6 games following a loss while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 division games. The under is 18-7-3 in the last 28 meetings and Washington is 2-5 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

I was leaning towards the Phillies when the Nationals didn’t have a pitcher going, but with Max Scherzer going, I have to lean the way of the under here. I think we have a pitcher’s duel brewing between two of the more intense and game-driven pitchers in the game. Give me the under.
