The St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox meet in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday.

The St. Louis Cardinals will try to bounce back from an 8-3 loss to the White Sox on Tuesday. Dylan Carlson and Max Moroff each had an RBI for the Cardinals while Nolan Arenado and Matt Carpenter each had two hits with a double. Eduardo Sosa and Yadier Molina each had a double as well while Paul Goldschmidt and Tommy Edman each had a base hit to finish off the Cardinals’ offense as a team in the loss. Jack Flaherty took his first loss of the season, falling to 8-1 after allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out three over 3.2 innings of work. John Gant will start here and is 3-3 with a 2.04 ERA and 32 strikeouts this season. This will be Gant’s first career start against the White Sox.

The Chicago White Sox will look to build on their solid offensive showing on Tuesday. Jose Abreu led the way, going 2 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs while Yoan Moncada went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Nick Madrigal went 3 for 4 with an RBI as well in the win. Leury Garcia, Zack Collins, Andrew Vaughn and Adam Eaton each had a base hit as well to finish off the White Sox offense as a team in the victory. Lucas Giolito got the win to improve to 4-4 on the year after allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out five over six innings of work while Liam Hendriks picked up his 10th save. Carlos Rodon will start here and is 5-1 with a 1.27 ERA and 62 strikeouts this season. In his career, Rodon is 1-1 with a 5.56 ERA and 13 strikeouts against St. Louis.

St. Louis is 4-10 in their last 14 interleague games as an underdog and 3-9 in their last 12 road games against a left-handed starter while the under is 8-2-1 in their last 11 game two matchups. Chicago is 31-12 in their last 43 home games and 41-20 in their last 61 games as a home favorite while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record.

I wanted to take a shot backing the Cardinals on Wednesday, but the White Sox just looked soo good in taking it to Jack Flaherty on Tuesday. Not to mention Carlos Rodon gives Chicago an edge on the mound over St. Louis’ John Gant, who tends to struggle in terms of keeping baserunners off of the paths. Give me the White Sox here.
