The Oakland A’s and the Los Angeles Angels meet in an AL West division matchup in MLB action from Angel Stadium on Saturday night.

The Oakland A’s will look to build on their 8-4 win over the Angels on Friday. Chad Pinder led the charge, going 3 for 5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs while Sean Murphy had a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Jed Lowrie, Mark Canha and Ramon Laureano each had a solo home run to round out the scoring for the A’s in the win with Laurano adding a double as well. Matt Olson added a base hit as well to cap off Oakland’s offense as a team in the victory. James Kaprelian allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out nine over 5.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Yusmeiro Petit picked up the win in relief to run his record to 6-0 on the year. Chris Bassitt will start here and is 3-2 with a 3.88 ERA and 57 strikeouts this season. In his career, Bassitt is 3-3 with a 5.15 ERA and 37 strikeouts against the Angels.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to rebound from their loss to the A’s last time out. Juan Lagares had a triple and two RBIs while Jared Walsh and Jose Iglesias each had a solo home run to finish off the Angels’ scoring in the loss. Jose Rojas added a pair of doubles and Taylor Ward added a base hit as well to finish off the Angels’ offense in the defeat. Jose Quintana allowed three runs on six hits while striking out four over 5.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Mike Mayers took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the year in relief. Patrick Sandoval will start here and is 0-0 with a 5.56 ERA and 10 strikeouts this season. This will be Sandoval’s second career start against Oakland.

Oakland is 5-2 in their last 7 road games and 25-12 in their last 37 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record. Los Angeles is 3-7 in their last 10 games overall and 1-6 in their last 7 games against a right-handed starter while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 Saturday games. Oakland is 13-5 in the last 18 meetings between these two teams.

A home dog is usually tempting in most spots, but that doesn’t put any lipstick on the pig that is Patrick Sandoval’s 1-9 career record. Oakland’s done some of their best work on the road this season and the Angels have looked lifeless at times this season. Give me the A’s in this one.
