The Oakland A’s and the Seattle Mariners meet in MLB action from T-Mobile Park on Monday.

The Oakland A’s will look to bounce back from a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels last time out. Matt Olson and Sean Murphy each had an RBI to make up the scoring for the A’s in the losing effort. Jed Lowrie, Stephen Piscotty and Chad Pinder each had a double while Mitch Moreland added a base hit as well to cap off the offense for Oakland as the A’s had just four hits as a team in the loss. Cole Irvin took the loss, falling to 3-7 on the year after allowing four earned runs on six hits while striking out three over six innings of work. James Kaprielian will start this one and is 2-0 with a 1.53 ERA and 19 strikeouts this season. This will be Kaprielian’s second career start against the Mariners.

The Seattle Mariners will look to build on their 4-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday. Ty France led the charge, going 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs while Kyle Seager went 2 for 3 with a solo home run to round out the scoring for the Mariners in the win. Donocan Walton added a double while Tom Murphy, J.P. Crawford, Kyle Lewis and Jack Mayfield each had a base hit to finish off Seattle’s offense as a team in the win. Yusei Kikuchi got the win to improve to 3-3 on the year after allowing both Texas runs on three hits while striking out five over 6.2 innings of work Keynan Middleton closed out the 9^th for his 4^th save of the year. Logan Gilbert will start here and is 0-2 with a 7.59 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season. This will be Gilbert’s second career start against Oakland.

Oakland is 12-2 in their last 14 series-opening games and 19-9 in their last 28 games as a favorite while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Seattle is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 42-88 in their last 130 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 Monday games. The under is 11-5-1 in the last 17 meetings between these two teams.

I get the case that could be made for either side here as Kaprielian’s been good and the Mariners have a tendency to bring teams down to their level, and play low-scoring games and Logan Gilbert’s only going to get better with time in the majors. However, I’m going to side with the under as I think Kaprielian continues that solid run to start his career while Logan Gilbert’s going to start getting more comfortable as he gets reps at the major league level. Give me the under in this one.
