The Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves meet Monday in MLB action at Truist Park.
The Washington Nationals need a win to snap a four-game losing streak. The Nationals have scored three runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last six games. The Nationals have lost eight straight games when scoring three or less runs. Trea Turner leads the Nationals with 61 hits and 27 RBI while Starlin Castro and Josh Harrison have combined for 88 hits and 37 RBI. Joe Ross gets the ball, and he is 2-4 with a 5.19 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season. Ross is 1-4 with a 6.43 ERA and 26 strikeouts in his career against the Braves.
The Atlanta Braves look for a win after winning five of their last eight games. The Braves have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last eight games. The Braves have won six of their last nine games when scoring four or more runs. Austin Riley leads the Braves with 51 hits and 22 RBI while Ronald Acuna Jr. and Dansby Swanson have combined for 91 hits and 52 RBI. Max Fried gets the ball, and he is 2-2 with a 4.63 ERA and 34 strikeouts this season. Fried is 2-2 with a 5.70 ERA and 32 strikeouts in his career against the Nationals.
The Nationals are 1-5 in their last 6 vs. National League East and 4-9 in their last 13 during game 1 of a series. The Braves are 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite and 4-1 in their last 5 home games. The under is 26-10-3 in Nationals last 39 overall. The over is 5-2-1 in Braves last 8 overall. The Nationals are 0-5 in the last 5 meetings. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.
The Washington Nationals have done little offensively over their last few games and it feels like their season is starting to slip away from them a bit. Joe Ross also hasn’t been good this season, so I doubt things turn around. The Atlanta Braves are coming off one of their better weeks and they had yesterday off due to a postponement, which a day off never hurt anybody. I like the Braves here, and I’ll lay the RL for added value.
