The Los Angeles Angels and the San Francisco Giants meet in MLB action from Oracle Park on Monday.
The Los Angeles Angels will look to build on their 4-2 win over the Oakland A’s on Sunday. David Fletcher led the way with a pair of doubles and two RBIs while Jared Walsh added a solo homer. Phil Gosselin added an RBI as well to cap off the scoring for the Halos in the winning effort while Taylor Ward went 2 for 4 and Jurt Suzuki and Luan Lagares each had base hits of their own to cap off the offense for the Angels in the win. Jose Quintana went three innings in the start with five strikeouts, not factoring in the decision. Jose Suarez got the win to improve to 2-0 while Raisel Iglesias closed out the 9th for his 9th save of the season. Dylan Bundy will start here and is 0-5 with a 6.50 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season. In his career, Bundy is 1-1 with a 4.66 ERA and 6 strikeouts against the Giants.
The San Francisco Giants will try to build on their 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. Mauricio Dubon led the way by going 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs while Austin Slater also went 2 for 3 with a solo home run. Evan Longoria and Kevin Gausman each had RBIs as well to cap off the scoring for the Giants in the win while Donovan Solano and Lamonte Wade Jr. each added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for the Giants in the win. Gausman got the win to improve to 6-0 after throwing six shutout innings, striking out seven on the way to the win while Jake McGee closed out the 9th for his 12th save. Johnny Cueto will start here and is 3-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cueto is 3-0 with a 1.35 ERA and 28 strikeouts against the Angels.
Los Angeles is 6-2 in their last 8 Monday games and 17-38 in their last 55 games as a road underdog while the over is 18-6-2 in their last 26 series-opening games. San Francisco is 4-0 in their last 4 games as a favorite and 4-1 in their last 5 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 interleague games against a right-handed starter. The over is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
If you gave me this matchup of Cueto vs. Bundy last season, I’d have taken the under all day. However, Cueto has been getting roughed up since coming off of the IL and Bundy’s been getting beat up all season long. I just think this is another game where the runs come in bunches, so give me the over here.
