The Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox meet Saturday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. This will be the third installment in a four-game weekend set between these teams. The Sox managed a three-run win on Thursday, then in the Friday game Chicago kept it going with a tight one-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Detroit couldn’t get much going in the Thursday game, posting just five team hits in a 4-1 defeat. In game two on Friday, the Tigers scored six runs in the seventh inning but ultimately fell short in a 9-8 loss. Starter Spencer Turnbull lasted 4.0 innings with one earned on two hits.
For the Saturday game three start, the Tigers are going with Tarik Skubal on the mound. Over his 49.0 innings of work this year, Skubal has 48 hits, 26 runs (25 earned), 13 homers allowed, 23 walks, 57 Ks and a 4.59 ERA.

Over on the White Sox’ side, they got a nice start out of Lance Lynn on Thursday with one earned in 6.0 innings. In the Friday game, Chicago was able to walk off with an excellent comeback victory. Dallas Keuchel lasted 6.0 innings with one earned from five hits.
For the Saturday starting pitcher role, the Sox are sending Lucas Giolito to the mound. Across 62.2 innings this year, Giolito has 47 hits, 29 runs (26 earned), 10 homers allowed, 24 walks, 78 strikeouts and a 3.73 ERA.

The Tigers are 22-47 in their last 69 in game three of a series and 75-162 in their last 237 overall. Detroit is 31-73 in their last 104 road games and the over is 4-1 in their last five Saturday games.

Meanwhile, the Sox are 13-3 in their last 16 at home versus a lefty starter and 37-14 in their last 51 home games. Chicago is 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games and the under is 6-1 in their last seven in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the White Sox. Giolito had a great May, posting a 4-2 mark with a 2.41 ERA over six starts alongside 45 strikeouts. He’s got a 2.84 ERA at Guaranteed Rate Field this year. As for Skubal, he’s coming off a nice outing himself with six scoreless versus the Yankees. I like Giolito to keep it going in a Chicago win here.
