The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet in MLB action from PNC Park on Tuesday night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to bounce back from a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Atlanta Braves in their last matchup. Albert Pujols went 2 for 4 with a solo home run and two RBIs to make up the scoring for the Dodgers in the loss while Justin Turner went 2 for 4 with a double in the defeat. A.J. Pollock, Cody Bellinger and Mookie Betts each had a base hit as well as the Dodgers had just seven hits as a team in the loss. Trevor Bauer took the loss, falling to 6-4 on the year after allowing three runs on six hits while striking out seven over six innings of work. Walker Buehler will start here and is 4-0 with a 2.82 ERA and 70 strikeouts this season. This will be Buehler’s second career start against the Pirates.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will look to bounce back after a 3-1 loss to the Miami Marlins on Sunday. Colin Moran had a double and an RBI to make up the lone run that Pittsburgh would plate in the loss while Ben Gamel and Adam Frazier each had a double as well. Ke’Bryan Hayes added a pair of hits and Erik Gonzalez added a base knock as well to cap off Pittsburgh’s offense as the Pirates had just six hits as a team in the losing effort. Chad Kuhl took the loss, falling to 0-3 on the year after allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits over six innings of work. JT Brubaker will start here and is 4-4 with a 3.74 ERA and 56 strikeouts this season. This will be Brubaker’s first career start against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles is 37-14 in their last 51 games following an off day and 36-15 in their last 51 series-opening games while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games against the NL Central. Pittsburgh is 5-2 in their last 7 home games and 11-24 in their last 35 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the NL West. Los Angeles is 89-42 in the last 131 meetings between these two teams and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams in Pittsburgh.

I’ll concede that Brubaker might be the Pirates’ best shot at getting a win here, but as good as the Pirates looked at times over the weekend, facing the Marlins and Dodgers are two completely different ends of the spectrum. On the other hand, the Dodgers are good, but they’ve yet to really be the dominant Dodgers we see at one point or another every year and Walker Buehler’s been good as well, but he was roughed up for three runs in his last start against St. Louis. Either way, I don’t have high hopes for Pittsburgh’s offense but I think Brubaker can keep the Dodgers in check offensively, so give me the under here.
