The Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers meet Saturday in MLB action from Comerica Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game set between these teams this week. In the series opener on Friday, the Sox eked out a one-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Chicago played three games versus the Blue Jays this week, losing Wednesday but winning 6-1 Tuesday and 5-2 Thursday. In the Friday opener versus Detroit, the Sox posted a run in the 10th inning for a 5-4 victory. Lucas Giolito managed 6.0 innings with five hits and two earned.
For the Saturday starting pitcher role, the Sox are sending out Dylan Cease. Over his 61.2 innings this year, Cease has 52 hits, 24 runs (23 earned), five homers allowed, 28 walks, 78 Ks and a 3.36 ERA.

Over on the Tigers’ side, they played the Mariners this week. Detroit similarly lost Wednesday but won Tuesday 5-3 and Thursday 8-3. In the Friday game, Detroit had seven team hits and two errors in the loss. Daz Cameron finished with two RBI on one hit.
For the starter job in the Saturday game, the Tigers will turn to Jose Urena. In his 59.1 innings of work this year, Urena has 62 hits, 30 runs (28 earned), three homers allowed, 24 walks, 36 Ks and a 4.25 ERA.

The White Sox are 41-16 in their last 57 versus a team with a losing record and 7-20 in their last 27 road games versus a right-handed starter. The under is 4-1 in the Sox’ last five in game two of a series and 18-7-1 in their last 26 overall.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games and 40-84 in their last 124 home games. Detroit is 78-165 in their last 243 overall and 34-74 in their last 108 in game two of a series.

PICK: I’m going with the White Sox. Urena should do fairly well here however; he’s given up three earned in his last 10.2 innings—all in his most recent start versus the White Sox, coincidentally. As for Cease, he’s been golden against Detroit in his career, posting a 7-0 record with a 1.91 ERA in seven starts. He’s also got 47 Ks in 42.1 innings in that stretch. I like Cease to keep it going in a reasonably close and lower-scoring game here.
