The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Saturday in MLB action from Miller Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game set between these teams over the weekend. In the series opener Friday, the Brewers managed a 7-4 victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Pittsburgh didn’t have any luck versus the Dodgers this week, falling 5-3 Tuesday, 2-1 Wednesday and 6-3 Thursday. In the Friday game versus Milwaukee, the Pirates had a couple of good offensive innings but couldn’t’ keep up on the scoreboard. Chase De Jong lasted 5.0 innings with two earned on four hits and four walks.

For the Saturday starting pitcher role, the Pirates will send out Chad Kuhl. Over his 25.2 innings of work this year, Kuhl has 21 hits, 20 runs (16 earned), five homers allowed, 17 walks, 21 Ks and a 5.61 ERA.

Over on the Milwaukee side, they played the Reds this week. Milwaukee lost Wednesday but got wins in the other pair to take the series. On Friday, the Brewers posted the big win thanks to five runs in the bottom of the seventh. Brandon Woodruff went 7.0 innings with four hits and two earned.

For the starter job on Saturday, the Brewers are sending out Corbin Burnes. Over his 59.1 innings of work this year, Burnes has 35 hits, 14 runs (13 earned), two homers allowed, seven walks, 94 Ks and a 1.97 ERA.

The Pirates are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games and 16-35 in their last 51 versus the NL Central. Pittsburgh is 11-27 in their last 38 overall and 17-48 in their last 65 road games.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 24-8 in their last 32 Saturday games and 13-6 in their last 19 at home with the total set at 9.0-10.5. The over is 3-1-1 in Milwaukee’s last five in game two of a series and the under is 6-2-2 in their last 10 versus the NL Central.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Brewers. Burnes has pitched well in his last pair of outings, posting one earned on 10 hits in 13.0 innings with 20 Ks. He’s also done well historically versus the Pirates, with a 3-0 career record. As for Kuhl, he posted a nice six-inning game versus the Marlins in his last start and has pitched better than his winless record would indicate. Still, I think Milwaukee has the upper hand here.
