The San Francisco Giants and the Washington Nationals meet Saturday in MLB action from Nationals Park. This will be the second installment in a four-game weekend series between these teams, and game one of a Saturday doubleheader. In the Friday opener, the Giants eked out a one-run victory. San Francisco played two games versus the Rangers this week, winning 9-4 Tuesday and falling 4-3 Wednesday. In the Friday opener versus the Nats, the Giants posted just one run on four hits but it was enough for a 1-0 win. Anthony DeSclafani went the distance with 9.0 innings, two hits, one walk and eight Ks.
For the Saturday game one starter job, the Giants will turn to Kevin Gausman. Over 77.2 innings of work so far this year, Gausman has 43 hits, 13 runs (11 earned), five homers allowed, 16 walks, 93 Ks and a 1.27 ERA.

Over on the Nationals’ side, they played a pair versus the Rays this week, falling 3-1 Tuesday and winning 9-7 in the Wednesday game. On Friday, Washington couldn’t solve DeSclafani and had a bad offensive outing. Trea Turner and Josh Bell were the only team players with hits.
For the game one starter spot, the Nationals will send Erick Fedde to the hill. Fedde has been sidelined on the virus IL lately and will be making his first Major League start since way back on May 16.

The Giants are 36-16 in their last 52 versus a team with a losing record and 8-2 in their last 10 versus a right-handed starter. The over is 5-0-1 in San Francisco’s last six opening games of doubleheaders and 6-1-1 in the last eight Saturday games.

Meanwhile, the Nationals are 11-4 in their last 15 opening games of doubleheaders and 1-5 in their last six Saturday games. The over is 5-2-1 in Washington’s last eight in game two of a series and the under is 35-15-3 in their last 53 overall.

PICK: I’m sticking with San Francisco. Fedde should be good to go here; he posted five innings in his latest rehab start with High-A Wilmington. As for Gausman, he’s been chugging right along this year, posting one or fewer earned runs in each of his last nine starts. I like Gausman to keep it going and help San Francisco to a victory.
