The Seattle Mariners and the Cleveland Indians meet Saturday in MLB action from Progressive Field. This will be the second installment in a three-game set this weekend between these teams. In the Friday opener, the Indians posted a big shutout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Seattle played the Tigers this week and didn’t have much luck, notching a lone win on Wednesday between a pair of losses. In the Friday opener versus Cleveland, the Mariners could only manage two hits in a 7-0 shutout defeat. Justin Dunn lasted 3.0 innings with five earned on nine hits.
For the Saturday game, the Mariners will send Yusei Kikuchi to the hill for the start. Over his 66.2 innings this year, Kikuchi has posted 51 hits, 31 runs (30 earned), 13 homers allowed, 20 walks, 69 Ks and a 4.05 ERA.

Over on the Indians’ side, they played a pair versus the Cardinals this week, winning 10-1 Tuesday and falling 8-2 in the Wednesday game. On Friday versus Seattle, Cleveland posted 14 hits in a nice offensive effort. Aaron Civale went 8.0 innings with one hit, one walk, 11 Ks and no earned.

For the Saturday starter job, the Indians are going with Triston McKenzie. Over his 41.2 innings this year, McKenzie has 28 hits, 29 earned runs, eight homers allowed, 35 walks, 59 Ks and a 6.26 ERA.
The Mariners are 43-90 in their last 133 versus a team with a winning record and 5-12 in their last 17 in game two of a series. Seattle is 5-12 in their last 17 road games and the over is 6-1 in their last seven Saturday games.

Meanwhile, the Indians are 8-3 in their last 11 in game two of a series and 11-5 in their last 16 versus the AL West. Cleveland is 1-7 in their last eight at home versus a lefty starter and the over is 5-0 in the last five Saturday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Mariners. Kikuchi was a little spotty in his last outing June 5 versus the Angels, with four runs (three earned) and two homers on six hits in 4.0 innings. He came out of the game after taking a hard grounder to his right knee, but thankfully avoided injury and should be fine here. If Kikuchi can keep the damage to a minimum in this one I think Seattle should be okay.
