The Atlanta Braves and the Miami Marlins meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Sunday.

The Atlanta Braves will look to bounce back from a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Marlins on Saturday. Freddie Freeman’s two run home run accounted for both Atlanta RBIs in the loss, with Freeman going 3 for 4 at the dish. Abraham Almonte went 2 for 3 with a double while Ronald Acuna Jr. and Max Fried each had base hits as well to cap off the Braves’ offense as a team in the defeat. Fried took the loss on the mound after allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four over six innings of work, faling to 3-4 on the year as a result. Drew Smyly will start here and is 2-3 with a 5.82 ERA and 43 strikeouts this season. In his career, Smyly is 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season.

The Miami Marlins will try to build on their win over the Braves from Saturday. Jesus Aguilar had two RBIs while Isan Diaz and Adam Duvall each had a solo home run to cap off the scoring from the Fish in the winning effort. Starling Marte, Corey Dickerson, Sandy Leon, Zach Thompson and Magneuris Sierra each had base hits as well in the winning effort. Thompson got the win to improve to 1-1 on the year after tossing five shutout innings, giving up just four hits while striking out six. Dylan Floro closed the 9th for his 2nd save of the season. Pablo Lopez will start this one is 2-3 with a 2.76 ERA and 76 strikeouts this season. In his career, Lopez is 0-1 with a 5.28 ERA and 15 strikeouts against Atlanta.

Atlanta is 2-5 in their last 7 division games and 1-4 in their last 5 games as a road underdog while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 game three matchups. Miami is 7-3 in their last 10 home games and 10-4 in their last 14 games as a home favorite while the under is 8-0 in their last 8 Sunday games. The under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams in Miami.

There’s a case to be made for both sides here as Miami’s been the better team in the last couple of games while the Braves are the more reliable team for the most part. However, I’m leaning towards the under here as Smyly’s done a better job at keeping the runs at a minimum and Pablo Lopez has been solid all year and has not gotten much help in terms of run support. Give me the under in another low-scoring battle.
