The Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays meet Sunday in MLB action from Tropicana Field. This will be the third and final installment in the weekend series between these teams. In the Friday opener, the Rays posted a two-run win. On Saturday, Tampa Bay kept it going with a tight one-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Baltimore had a lead heading into the bottom of the fourth on Friday but couldn’t hold it and ended up losing 4-2. On Saturday, the O’s posted six hits in a rough 5-4 loss. Baltimore was down 5-0 heading into the fifth, then made a stab at a comeback and couldn’t bridge the gap.
For the Sunday starting pitcher role, the Orioles will send out Bruce Zimmermann. In his 54.0 innings this year, Zimmermann has 62 hits, 30 runs (29 earned), 12 homers allowed, 17 walks, 50 Ks and a 4.83 ERA.

Over on the Rays’ side, they were able to notch four runs on nine hits during the Friday win. In the Saturday game, Tampa Bay notched nine hits during the victory. Starter Rich Hill lasted 4.2 innings with four earned on four hits and three walks.
For the Sunday starter role, the Rays are going with Michael Wacha. This year Wacha is 1-1 with a 4.54 ERA and 30 strikeouts.

The Orioles are 18-38 in their last 56 overall and 73-164 in their last 237 road games. Baltimore is 13-38 in their last 51 on turf and the over is 8-3 in their last 11 Sunday games.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 9-2 in their last 11 versus a lefty starter and 4-1 in their last five at home versus a left-handed starter. Tampa Bay is 36-16 in their last 51 overall and 40-14 in their last 54 Sunday games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Orioles in this one, but probably staying away. Zimmermann has been really solid over his last three starts, posting five earned runs on 14 hits with 20 strikeouts in 15.1 innings of work in that span. Zimmermann has six or more strikeouts in four of his last five starts, and two or fewer earned runs in four of his last five. If Baltimore can get another quality outing from Zimmermann I think their chances at a W are pretty good.
