The Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals meet Tuesday in MLB action from Busch Stadium. This will be the second installment in a three-game set between these teams this week. In the series opener Monday, the Cardinals posted a two-run win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Miami managed a series win versus the Braves over the weekend, taking the Friday and Saturday games before a Sunday loss 6-4. In the Monday game versus the Cardinals, the Marlins gave up two runs in the eighth during a 4-2 loss.
For the starting pitcher role Tuesday, the Marlins are sending out Trevor Rogers. Across his 75.2 innings of work this year, Rogers has 55 hits, 19 runs (17 earned), four homers allowed, 25 walks, 89 Ks and a 2.02 ERA.

Over on the Cardinals’ side, they hit the skids against the Cubs over the weekend, losing all three games 8-5, 7-2 and 2-0. In the Monday game, St. Louis put up 10 team hits during the victory. Starter Adam Wainwright logged 6.0 innings with four hits and two earned.
For the Tuesday starter job, the Cardinals are going with Kwang Hyun Kim. After experiencing lower back tightness, Kim will be activated off the IL for this outing. It’s his first Major League start since June 4.

The Marlins are 19-40 in their last 59 Tuesday games and 19-44 in their last 63 in game two of a series. Miami is 34-75 in their last 109 road games with the total set at 7.0-8.5 and the over is 7-2 in their last nine Tuesday games.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 4-12 in their last 16 with the total set at 9.0-10.5 and 8-3 in their last 11 at home versus a lefty starter. The over is 5-1 in St. Louis’ last six in game two of a series and 25-11-2 in their last 38 at home versus a left-handed starter.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Miami. Rogers has been really solid over his last seven starts, posting two earned or fewer in each and lasting at least 5.0 innings in every one as well. Rogers has six earned on 17 hits in his last 19.0 innings with 19 strikeouts in that span. I like Rogers to pitch well again here and put Miami in a nice spot.
