The New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays meet in MLB action from Sahlen Field on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees will look to bounce back from a 7-0 loss at the hands of Philadelphia in their last outing this past Sunday. DJ LeMahieu had a pair of hits while Gleyber Torres and Rougned Odor each had a double to make up the offense for New York in the loss as the Yankees had just four hits as a team in the loss. The rest of the squad went 0 for 18 with 7 strikeouts in the defeat. Domingo German took the loss, falling to 3-3 on the year after allowing all seven runs on ten hits while striking out a pair over 4.1 innings of work. Jordan Montgomery will start here and is 3-1 with a 3.99 ERA and 65 strikeouts this season. In his career, Montgomery is 2-1 with a 3.58 ERA and 25 strikeouts against Toronto.

The Toronto Blue Jays will try to bounce back from a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2 for 4 with a solo home run as the lone RBI for the Blue Jays in the loss while Marcus Semien and Teoscar Hernandez each had a base knock as Toronto had just four hits as well in their loss. The rest of the Blue Jays went 0 for 18 with 7 strikeouts in the losing effort. Alek Manoah allowed one run on four hits while striking out five over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Rafael Dolis took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the year as a result. Hyun-Jin Ryu will start here and is 5-4 with a 3.34 ERA and 62 strikeouts this season. In his career, Ryu is 2-2 with a 4.46 ERA and 32 strikeouts against New York.

New York is 2-7 in their last 9 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 series-opening games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Toronto is 3-8 in their last 11 home games and 1-6 in their last 7 games against a left-handed starter while the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games overall. The under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.

I get the case that could be made for either side here, but realistically, runs have historically come in bunches when the Jays play in Buffalo and I don’t think it’s going to be any different on Tuesday. Ryu hasn’t been sharp lately and as disappointing as the Yankees have been, they can still put runs up and we saw Toronto do that already against the Red Sox over the weekend. Give me the over here.
