The San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies meet in an NL West division matchup in MLB action from Coors Field on Tuesday night.

The San Diego Padres will look to rebound from a 3-2 loss to the Rockies in game one on Monday. Trent Grisham’s 9th-inning two-run home run was the lone scoring that the Padres would do in the loss while Tommy Pham went 2 for 4 with a double and Vic Caratini added a double as well. Wil Myers chipped in a base hit as well as the Padres had just five hits as a team in the losing effort. Dinelson Lamet took the loss, falling to 1-2 on the year after allowing one run on four hits while striking out three over four innings of work. Yu Darvish will start here and is 6-2 with a 2.28 ERA and 92 strikeouts this season. In his career, Darvish is 1-3 with a 5.30 ERA and 38 strikeouts against Colorado.

The Colorado Rockies will try to build on Monday’s solid victory over the Padres. C.J. Cron had a solo home run and Ryan McMahon added a double and an RBI while Trevor Story added an RBI as well to finish off the scoring for the Rockies in the win. Raimel Tapia, Yonathan Daza, Charlie Blackmon, Josh Fuentes and Austin Gomber each had base hits as well to finish off Colorado’s offense as a team in the win. Gomber got the win on the mound to improve to 6-5 on the year after tossing eight shutout innings, giving up just three hits while striking out four on the win to the win while Daniel Bard had a shaky 9th but closed the deal for his 9th save of the season. Chi Chi Gonzalez will start here and is 2-4 with a 5.74 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gonzalez is 0-2 with a 6.05 ERA and 18 strikeouts against the Padres.

San Diego is 6-2 in their last 8 division games and 18-8 in their last 26 games as a favorite while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 game two matchups. Colorado is 8-2 in their last 10 home games and 1-4 in their last 5 games overall while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 division games. San Diego is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings between these two teams.

The Rockies made a splash as underdogs on Monday and they could potentially do it again on Tuesday, but Darvish is a tough customer and I’m not sure how quick I am to back Chi Chi Gonzalez here. With that said, I think both side are going to give up some runs here in the thin air in Colorado despite a slow night offensively in game one.
