The Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees meet Saturday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series between these teams. In the Friday opener, the A’s notched a two-run comeback victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Oakland had a nice series versus the Angels this week, winning 8-5 Monday, 6-4 Tuesday and 8-4 Wednesday. In the Friday matchup versus the Yankees, the A’s put up three runs in the sixth on the way to a 5-3 win. Starter James Kaprielian put up 5.2 innings with three earned on three hits.

For the starter role on Saturday, the A’s will send out Chris Bassitt. Over his 86.2 innings this year, Bassitt has 69 hits, 33 earned runs, eight homers allowed, 21 walks, 91 Ks and a 3.43 ERA.

Over on the Yankees’ side, they managed to sweep the Blue Jays this week, 6-5 Tuesday, 3-2 Wednesday and 8-4 Thursday. In the Friday game, New York had a 3-2 lead after five innings but couldn’t hold on. Jameson Taillon went 4.2 innings with four hits and two earned runs.
For Saturday’s starter role, the Yankees will send out Domingo German. Over his 65.0 innings this year, German has 60 hits, 29 runs (28 earned), 12 homers allowed, 13 walks, 57 Ks and a 3.88 ERA.

The A’s are 6-0 in their last six in game two of a series and 7-3 in the last 10 Saturday games. The under is 6-2 in Oakland’s last eight in game two of a series and 26-6-1 in their last 33 with the total set at 11.0 or higher.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are 12-4 in their last 16 in game two of a series and 62-29 in their last 91 Saturday games. New York is 94-45 in their last 139 home games and the over is 34-14-3 in their last 51 with the total at 11.0 or higher.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the A’s. Bassitt is on a great run right now with four runs or fewer in each of his last 25 starts over the last two years. He’s coming off 5.2 innings with two earned versus the Royals. As for German, he had a nice run going himself but hit the wall in his last start with seven earned on 10 hits in 4.1 innings. I like German to get it back together here, with the A’s ultimately bagging the win.
