The Cincinnati Reds and the San Diego Padres meet Sunday in MLB action from Petco Park. This will be the final installment in a four-game set between these teams. The Padres won both the Thursday and Friday games, then on Saturday San Diego kept it going with another victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Cincinnati didn’t have any luck Thursday with a 6-4 loss, and fell again 8-2 in the Friday game. In the Saturday game three, the Reds had an early lead but couldn’t hold it in an eventual 7-5 loss. Vladimir Gutierrez went 5.0 innings with eight hits, four walks and five earned.

For the Sunday finale, the Reds will send Luis Castillo to the hill in the start. Over his 71.0 innings this year, Castillo has 77 hits, 54 runs (46 earned), nine homers allowed, 30 walks, 67 Ks and a 5.83 ERA.

Over on the Padres’ side, they had their offense going well with 12 hits in the Friday game. On Saturday, San Diego kept up the pace with 11 team hits in the win. Miguel Diaz lasted 2.0 innings with three hits and two earned.
For the Sunday matchup, the Padres are going with Dinelson Lamet. Over his 27.0 innings this year, Lamet has 27 hits 11 runs (10 earned), two homers allowed, 30 Ks and a 3.33 ERA.

The Reds are 5-1 in their last six Sunday games and 9-4 in their last 13 versus a team with a winning record. The over is 8-3-2 in Cincinnati’s last 13 Sunday games and 18-7-1 in the last 26 versus the NL West.

Meanwhile, the Padres are 14-4 in their last 18 Sunday games and 16-5 in their last 21 home games. The over is 8-0 in San Diego’s last eight Sunday games and 4-0 in their last four in game four of a series.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Padres. It’ll be interesting to see how far San Diego sends Lamet into this one; he’s gone 5.0 innings just once so far but has hit 4.0 in two of his last three. Lamet is coming off four hits and one earned in 4.0 frames over his last start. As for Castillo, he’s got a 2-2 record with a 3.58 ERA in five starts versus the Padres in his career. Castillo does give up a decent amount of homers to San Diego (six), so the Padres may have some solid opportunities in this one.
