The Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Angels meet in MLB action from Angel Stadium on Saturday night.

The Detroit Tigers will look to bounce back from an 11-3 loss at the hands of the Angels on Friday. Miguel Cabrera went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Willi Castro and Robbie Grossman each had an RBI as well to cap off Detroit’s scoring as a team in the loss. Nomar Mazara had a pair of hits while Akil Baddoo added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for Detroit in the defeat. Jose Urena took the loss, falling to 2-7 on the year after allowing seven runs on seven hits while striking out four over 4.1 innings of work. Wily Peralta will start here and is making his first major league start since 2017. This will be Peralta’s second career start against the Angels.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to build on their rout of the Tigers from Friday. Shohei Ohtani and Taylor Ward each had three RBIs with Ward adding a pair of doubles while Ohtani showed why he’s participating in the home run derby with a pair of dingers. Jared Walsh added a two-run home run and Luis Rengifo had a solo homer while Kolten Wong and Justin Upton each had an RBI to cap off the scoring for the Halos in the win with Upton going 3 for 4 with a double. Juan Lagares added a double as well while Phil Gosselin added a base hit of his own to finish off L.A.’s scoring as a team in the victory. Alex Cobb got the win to improve to 5-2 on the year after tossing 5.2 shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out eight. Patrick Sandoval will start here and is 1-2 with a 3.51 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. This will be Sandoval’s first career start against Detroit.

Detroit is 81-169 in their last 250 games overall and 35-76 in their last 112 road games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record. Los Angeles is 8-0 in their last 8 games as a favorite and 5-0 in their last 5 home games while the over is 12-1 in their last 13 games overall.

I’m not trying to back either of these pitchers as Peralta’s making his first start since 2017 while Sandoval’s been on the losing end of decisions over the majority of his career. With that said, the Angels are the team that’s finding the ball with the bat right now, while the Tigers have regressed from the team that put together that nice little winning streak a few weeks ago. Peralta should be serviceable here, but in the end I like the Angels to get the win.
