The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Miami Marlins meet in MLB action from LoanDepot Park on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will attempt to bounce back from a 2-1 loss in ten innings at the hands of the Marlins on Tuesday. Will Smith had the lone RBI for the Dodgers in the losing effort while Justin Turner and Chris Taylor each had two hits. Gavin Lux, Tony Gonsolin, Cody Bellinger and Mookie Betts each had a base hit as well to cap off the offense for the Dodgers as a team in the losing effort. Gonsolin threw 5.1 shutout innings, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts, not factoring in the decision. Blake Treinen ended up with the loss in relief to fall to 2-4 on the year. Jake Reed will start hera and is 0-0 with a 13.50 ERA and 1 strikeout this season. This will be Reed’s first career start against the Marlins.

The Miami Marlins will try to build on their win over the Dodgers from Tuesday night. Jesus Aguliar had an RBI while Miguel Rojas went 2 for 4 with a double and Pablo Lopez added a double as well. Starling Marte, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Jesus Sanchez and Jon Berti each had a base hit as well to cap off the Marlins’ offense as a team in the win. Lopez allowed one run on four hits while striking out eight over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. David Hess got the win in relief to improve to 2-0 on the year. Ross Detwiler will start here and is 1-0 with a 3.23 ERA and 36 strikeouts this season. In his career, Detwiler is 1-2 with a 4.60 ERA and 15 strikeouts against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles is 36-16 in their last 52 games overall and 37-15 in their last 52 game two matchups while the under is 9-2-1 in their last 12 games overall. Miami is 5-1 in their last 6 games against the NL West and 1-4 in their last 5 Wednesday games while the under is 11-4 in their last 15 game three matchups. The over is 52-25-6 in the last 83 meetings between these two teams.

I think it’d be a fool’s game to try to figure out which of these pitchers is going to do what in this game as this could easily be a bullpen game on both sides. I do think that the offenses will do enough against the patchwork rotations for the day to get us over the number, so I’m leaning the way of the over here.
