New York really got the bats moving on Tuesday, posting a dominant 12-1 victory. In the Wednesday game two, New York posted 10 hits in a 5-4 win. Domingo German went 3.0 innings with two hits and five Ks.
For the starter job in the Thursday game, the Yankees will send out Jordan Montgomery. Over his 86.1 innings this year Montgomery has 82 hits, 43 runs (40 earned), nine homers allowed, 26 walks, 86 Ks and a 4.17 ERA overall.
Over on the Mariners’ side, they managed just five hits—and gave up 18—in their Tuesday defeat. In the Wednesday game, Seattle could only muster three team hits in the loss. Yusei Kikuchi managed 5.0 innings with eight hits, three walks and five earned.

For the starter job on Thursday, the Mariners will go with Logan Gilbert. Across his 41.2 innings this year, Gilbert has 36 hits, 20 runs (19 earned), five homers allowed, 10 walks, 45 strikeouts and a 4.10 ERA.
New York is 7-2 in the last nine versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15 and 2-5 in their last seven with the total set at 9.0-10.5. The over is 4-0-1 in the Yankees’ last five Thursday games and 5-2-1 in their last eight in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Mariners are 8-2 in their last 10 Thursday games and 5-0 in their last five at home versus a lefty starter. Seattle is 14-6 in their last 20 overall and the over is 6-2 in their last eight in game three of a series.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Mariners here. Gilbert has been decent over his last two appearances, posting two earned on six hits in 7.2 innings. As for Montgomery, he’s usually been serviceable this year and has six earned in his last 10.1 innings on 14 hits. If Seattle can get to Montgomery early I think they’ll have a solid shot at a win.
