The Texas Rangers and the Detroit Tigers meet in MLB action from Comerica Park on Monday.

The Texas Rangers are in dire need of a bounce back after being swept by the Blue Jays over the weekend, including a 5-0 loss in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader and followed that up with a 10-0 beatdown loss in game two. Game one saw Joey Gallo log a triple and Nate Lowe push across a double while Isiah Kiner-Falefa added a base hit as well to finish off Texas’ offense as the Rangers had just three hits as a team in the loss. Kolby Allard took the loss, falling to 2-7 after allowing five runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings of work. Game two saw Kiner-Falefa record a double while Nick Solak and Jonah Heim each put up a base hit as the Rangers once again had just three hits as a team in the loss. Mike Foltynewicz took the loss, falling to 2-9 after allowing ten runs on eight hits while failing to make it out of the second inning. Kyle Gibson will start here and is 6-1 with a 2.29 ERA and 88 strikeouts this season. in his career, Gibson is 10-10 with a 5.51 ERA and 110 strikeouts against Detroit.

The Detroit Tigers will attempt to build on their 7-0 win over the Twins from Sunday. Jonathan Schoop and Jeimer Candelario each had two hits and three RBIs with a home run, with Candelario logging a double as well. Miguel Cabrera added a base hit as well to finish off the scoring for Detroit in the win. Akil Baddoo and Derek Hill each had two hits while Jake Rogers added a double and Isaac Paredes added a base hit as well to finish off the Tigers’ offense as a team in the win. Wily Peralta got the win to improve to 3-1 on the year after tossing seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out four in the victory. Casey Mize will start here and is 5-5 with a 3.59 ERA and 77 strikeouts this season. This will be Mize’s second career start against Texas.

Texas is 2-12 in their last 14 Games as a road favorite and 0-4 in their last 4 games following a loss while the over is 13-3 in their last 16 series-opening games. Detroit is 5-0 in their last 5 home games and 26-54 in their last 80 series-opening games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games.

I get the case that you could make for either side here, but my free play is going to be on the under. Gibson and Mize have been two of the best pitchers for their respective rotations this season, and If this game isn’t ending up as a pitcher’s duel, I don’t know what is. Give me the under here.
