The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox meet in an AL East division matchup in MLB action from Fenway Park on Thursday night.
The New York Yankees will look to build on a 6-5 win in 10 innings over the Phillies last time out. Rougned Odor had a two-run home run while Gleyber Torres added a solo shot to the cause. Ryan LaMarre, Greg Allen and Giancarlo Stanton each had an RBI as well to cap off New York’s scoring with Allen logging a double as well. DJ LeMahieu, Gary Sanchez, Brett Gardner and Estevan Florial each had a base hit as well to finish off the offense for the Yankees in the win. Asher Wojciechowski allowed two runs on three hits while striking out four over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Brooks Kriske got the win in relief to improve to 1-0 on the year. Jordan Montgomery will start here and is 3-5 with a 4.18 ERA and 99 strikeouts this season. in his career, Montgomery is 1-2 with a 4.24 ERA and 34 strikeouts against Boston.
The Boston Red Sox will try to build off of a 7-4 win over the Blue Jays from Wednesday. Enrique Hernandez went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run and a double while J.D. Martinez had a solo homer and a double as well. Michael Chavis, Hunter Renfroe and Rafael Devers each had a home run as well and Christian Vazquez added an RBI of his own to finish off the offense for the Red Sox in the win. Bobby Dalbec also added a double in the victory. Garrett Richards got the win to improve to 6-5 on the year after allowing four runs on four hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings of work. Matt Barnes closed the door in the 9th for his 20th save of the season. Tanner Houck will start here and is 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season. This will be Houck’s second career start against the Yankees.

I get the case that could be made for either side here, but realistically, I’m not trusting the starting pitching matchup even if these guys are only going 4 or 5 innings. Both teams have a lot of pop in the lineup and I think we have a bunch of runs coming our way on Thursday. Give me the over in this one.
