The Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals meet Friday in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium. Detroit is coming off a series versus the Rangers. The Tigers took the first three games of that set, then on Thursday Detroit bagged another victory. As for the Royals, they played the Brewers this week. Kansas City won both those games. Detroit was able to take care of the Rangers this week, winning 14-0 Monday, 4-1 Tuesday and 4-2 in the Wednesday game. In the Thursday finale, the Tigers crawled even closer to .500 with a 7-5 win. Tyler Alexander managed 3.2 innings with one earned on three hits and a walk.

For the starter job in the Friday game, the Tigers will send out Wily Peralta. So far this year Peralta carries a 3-1 record with a 1.64 ERA and 20 strikeouts.

Over on the Royals’ side, they managed a couple of wins over the Brewers this week, taking victories 5-2 Tuesday and 6-3 on Wednesday. In the game two win, Royals pitcher Brad Keller put up 6.2 innings with six hits and three earned runs.

For the starter job in the Friday game, the Royals will send out Kris Bubic. Across his 62.2 innings this year Bubic has 62 hits, 36 runs (35 earned), 13 homers allowed, 33 walks, 53 Ks and a 5.03 ERA overall.

The Tigers are 40-84 in their last 124 road games and 15-44 in their last 59 Friday games. Detroit is 43-98 in their last 141 versus the AL Central and the over is 9-1 in their last 10 in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Royals are 6-0 in their last six after an off day and 10-29 in their last 39 overall. KC is 3-14 in their last 17 versus a team with a losing record and 2-5 in their last seven home games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Royals. Bubic had a rough stretch of games going there for a while, posting 13 earned runs on 15 hits over a span of 9.0 innings in three appearances. The good news is that Bubic had a solid appearance his last time up July 17 versus the Orioles, with 6.0 innings, two hits, three walks and one earned. If Bubic can post a quality start in this one KC should be within striking distance. Should be a fun matchup regardless, though; Detroit’s on a roll right now.
