The Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles meet Saturday in MLB action at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Nationals look for a win after splitting their last six games. The Orioles look for a win after winning four of their last six games.

The Washington Nationals have scored eight runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last seven games. The Nationals have won three straight games when scoring four or more runs. Trea Turner leads the Nationals with 118 hits and 47 RBI while Juan Soto and Starlin Castro have combined for 178 hits and 92 RBI. Max Scherzer gets the ball, and he is 7-4 with a 2.83 ERA and 142 strikeouts this season. Scherzer is 7-2 with a 3.17 ERA and 124 strikeouts in his career against the Orioles.

The Baltimore Orioles have scored 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last six games. The Orioles have won four of their last five games when scoring four or more runs. Cedric Mullins leads the Orioles with 114 hits and 35 RBI while Trey Mancini and Ryan Mountcastle have combined for 173 hits and 111 RBI. Spenser Watkins gets the ball, and he is 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. This will be Watkins’ first career game against the Nationals.

The Nationals are 1-4 in their last 5 during game 2 of a series and 5-12 in their last 17 overall. The Orioles are 69-144 in their last 213 home games and 19-48 in their last 67 during game 2 of a series. The over is 4-1-1 in Nationals last 6 overall. The over is 4-0 in Orioles last 4 interleague games. The Nationals are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Baltimore.

Max Scherzer hasn’t looked great in his last three starts, but he’s still capable of being his old self and he’s certainly a lot easier to trust than Spenser Watkins. I’m also not a believer in the O’s recent success in the second half. We also have the Nationals offense that’s come alive lately with the return of a red hot Soto. I’ll gladly take the Nats and the cheap price with their ace on the mound.
