The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds meet Sunday in MLB action from Great American Ball Park. This will be the final installment in a three-game weekend set between these teams. In the Friday opener, the Reds eked out a one-run win. On Saturday, the Reds kept it going with a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

St. Louis had a brief lead at a couple points on Friday, but ultimately lost in a disappointing 6-5 finish. In the Saturday game, the Cardinals had a brief lead early but ultimately fell 5-3. Starter Jake Woodford put up 5.0 innings with three earned on seven hits.

For the Sunday starting pitcher role, the Cardinals will send Johan Oviedo to the mound. Across his 0-5 record in a 13-game span this year (12 starts), Oviedo has a 4.81 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 58.0 innings of work.

Over on the Reds’ side, they had their offense working well Friday, notching 14 team hits during the victory. In the Saturday game, Cincinnati committed three errors but still picked up the win. Luis Castillo had 7.0 innings with four hits and three walks.

For the Sunday starter job, the Reds are sending out Sonny Gray. Over his 66.2 innings so far this year, Gray has 63 hits, 29 runs (27 earned), eight homers allowed, 27 walks, 86 Ks and a 3.65 ERA.

The Cardinals are 6-2 in their last eight in game three of a series and 5-12 in their last 17 road games versus a right-handed starter. St. Louis is 2-8 in their last 10 Sunday games and the under is 3-0-1 in their last four Sunday games.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 5-1 in their last six in game three of a series and 16-6 in their last 22 versus the NL Central. The under is 5-1 in the Reds’ last six Sunday games and 13-3-1 in their last 17 in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Reds. That’s somewhat contingent on Gray having a bounce-back game, though. In his last outing Gray was less than ideal, going just 4.2 innings with five earned on four walks and six hits. The good news is that he’d given up just three earned over his previous 15.0 innings. If Gray can get back to form in this one, Cincinnati should be in good shape.
