The Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox meet Tuesday in MLB action from Fenway Park. This will be the second installment in a four-game series between these teams this week. In the Monday opener, the Sox eked out a one-run comeback victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Toronto had some trouble with the Mets over the weekend, winning Saturday but dropping the other two games. In the Monday opener versus the Sox, the Jays notched nine hits and had a lead going into the bottom of the eighth but couldn’t hold on in an eventual 5-4 defeat.

For the starting pitcher job on Tuesday, the Jays will send out Robbie Ray. So far this year Ray has an 8-5 record with a 3.12 ERA and 142 strikeouts.

Over on the Red Sox’ side, they embarrassed the Yankees over the weekend yet again, taking three of the four games. In the Monday matchup versus Toronto, Boston posted a pair of runs in the eighth on the way to the win. Nick Pivetta logged 4.2 innings with six hits, two walks and four earned.

For Tuesday’s starting pitcher gig, the Sox are sending out Garrett Richards. This year Richards has 97.1 innings with 115 hits, 59 runs (54 earned), 14 homers allowed, 44 walks, 78 Ks and a 4.99 ERA.

The Blue Jays are 12-5 in the last 17 in game two of a series and 13-5 in their last 18 road games versus a right-handed starter. The under is 7-3 in Toronto’s last 10 Tuesday games and 7-3 in their last 10 on grass.

Meanwhile, the Sox are 12-3 in their last 15 home games and 7-2 in the last nine at home with a total of 9.0-10.5. Boston is 27-10 in their last 37 versus the AL East and the under is 9-4 in their last 13 Tuesday games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Blue Jays. Richards has had a couple of rough outings in his last pair, giving up seven earned runs on 11 hits in 10.2 innings. In his last outing versus the Jays, Richards gave up three homers and four earned runs in 5.2 innings. Furthermore, he’s given up eight earned on 15 hits in a span of 11.0 innings in his last two starts versus Toronto. The Jays should have some early opportunities to get on the board here.
