The Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox meet in an AL East doubleheader in MLB action from Fenway Park on Wednesday night.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to rebound from their 5-4 loss at the hands of the Red Sox on Monday before Tuesday’s postponement. Bo Bichette had a two-run home run while Marcus Semien and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. each had an RBI to cap off Toronto’s scoring as a team in the loss. Reese McGuire had a pair of hits while Teoscar Hernandez and George Springer each had a double and Randal Grichuk added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for Toronto in the defeat. Thomas Hatch allowed three runs on seven hits with four K’s over 3.2 innings in the start, but it was Trevor Richards who took the loss in relief to fall to 4-1 on the year. Robbie Ray will start game one with an 8-5 record, a 3.12 ERA and 142 strikeouts while game two sees Steven Matz start with his 8-5 record and his 4.34 ERA with 89 strikeouts this season.

The Boston Red Sox will look to take care of business in Wednesday’s double dip after winning on Monday. Alex Verdugo went 2 for 4 with three RBIs including a two-run home run while Rafael Devers had a solo home run and Michael Chavis added an RBI as well to cap off the scoring for Boston in the win. J.D. Martinez and Hunter Renfroe each had a double with Renfroe going 2 for 3 at the dish while Franchy Cordero added a pair of hits as well to finish off Boston’s offense as a team in the win. Nick Pivetta allowed four runs on six hits with three strikeouts over 4.2 innings of work in the start, not factoring in the decision. Adam Ottavino got the win to improve to 3-3 on the year while Matt Barnes closed the door for his 22nd save of the campaign. Game one will see Garrett Richards start for Boston with a record of 6-5 and an ERA of 4.99 with 78 strikeouts while game two will see Tanner Houck start and is 0-2 with a 2.50 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season.

Toronto is 2-5 in their last 7 road games and 1-5 in their last 6 division games while the under is 9-1-1 in their last 11 games as an underdog. Boston is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a favorite and 19-7 in their last 26 home games while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games as a home favorite.

I get the case that could be made across the board as these temporary seven inning doubleheaders can throw a wrench into things. However, I’m still siding with the over in both games. The starting pitching matchup in both just screams for runs in bunches and with these shorter games, you find that the starters remain in the game for more of the actual games in order to preserve arms. I think we have a pair of high-scoring games here, so give me the over in game one and game two.
