The Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers meet Friday in MLB action from Comerica Park. This will be the second installment in a four-game series between these teams over the weekend. In the Thursday opener, the Tigers took a four-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Baltimore played a pair of games versus the Marlins this week, losing Tuesday 7-3 but eking out a Wednesday win 8-7. In the Thursday opener versus the Tigers, the O’s notched just four hits in a 6-2 loss. Alexander Wells had 5.0 innings with seven hits, four earned and three walks.

For the starter job in the Friday game, the Orioles will send out Matt Harvey. Over 88.0 innings this year Harvey has 112 hits, 71 runs (65 earned), 12 homers allowed, 27 walks, 67 Ks and a 6.65 ERA overall.

Over on the Tigers’ side, they played the Twins this week. Detroit lost the first game but ended up with wins in the other pair. On Friday, Detroit scored twice in the first and never looked back. Casey Mize logged 7.0 innings with four hits, two walks and no earned.

For the starter gig in Friday’s opener, the Tigers are sending out Tarik Skubal. In his 99.2 innings this year Skubal has 93 hits, 53 runs (49 earned), 22 homers allowed, 38 walks, 113 Ks and a 4.42 ERA.

The Orioles are 49-100 in their last 149 road games with a total of 9.0-10.5 and 22-47 in their last 69 Friday games. Baltimore is 80-179 in their last 259 road games and 20-48 in their last 68 versus the AL Central.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 15-45 in their last 60 Friday games and 68-148 in their last 216 versus a right-handed starter. Detroit is 35-74 in their last 109 at home versus a right-handed starter and the over is 5-2 in their last seven in game two of a series.

PICK: I’m going with the Orioles here. Skubal had a good outing versus the Rangers back on July 20, but he’s been a little spotty over his last four starts. Skubal has 14 earned runs in 22.0 innings of work during that span. As for Harvey, he had a rough patch of his own early this month but has posted 12.0 innings with four hits, one walk and no earned in his last two games. This should be a fun starter matchup, and I like Harvey to stay hot.
