The Kansas City Royals and the Toronto Blue Jays meet in MLB action from Rogers Centre on Friday night.

The Kansas City Royals will look to build on their 5-0 win over the White Sox last time out. Michael A. Taylor and Salvador Perez each had two RBIs with Perez going 2 for 4 with a two-run home run while Taylor had a solo homer. Hunter Dozier added an RBI and a double to cap off KC’s scoring as a team in the winning effort. Nicky Lopez went 2 for 3 with a triple while Carlos Santana had a pair of hits as well and Whit Merrifield added a base hit to finish off Kansas City’s offense as a team in the victory. Carlos Hernandez threw six shutout innings in the start, allowing just four hits while striking out four to improve to 2-1 on the year. Daniel Lynch will start here and is 1-2 with a 7.88 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to build on their 13-1 rout of the Boston Red Sox to finish their series on Thursday night. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Teoscar Hernandez each had three RBIs with Guerrero Jr. adding a three-run home run while Hernandez went 3 for 5 with a double. Reese McGuire went 3 for 5 with three doubles and an RBI while Marcus Semien had a pair of doubles and an RBI and Bo Bichette had a two-bagger and an RBI of his own. Santiago Espinal, Cavan Biggio, Randal Grichuk and George Springer each had RBIs as well to cap off the scoring for Toronto in the win. Hyun-Jin Ryu got the win to improve to 10-5 on the year after tossing six shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five on the way to the win. Ross Stripling will start here and is 3-6 with a 4.84 ERA and 84 strikeouts this season.

Kansas City is 9-1 in their last 10 games overall and 17-35 in their last 52 games as an underdog while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games as an underdog. Toronto is 3-9 in their last 12 Friday games and 35-16 in their last 51 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 8-0 in their last 8 games against a team with a left-handed starter.

The Royals looked good on Thursday and have been playing some of their best ball of the season as of late. However, this is the first time that the Blue Jays are at home since the pandemic started, their first true home game since the end of the 2019 season. This place is going to be absolutely rocking. That’s not the best environment for a young pitcher like Daniel Lynch to succeed in and 15,000 are going to sound like 50,000. I’ll side with Toronto at home in this one.
