The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet Friday in MLB action from Chase Field. Los Angeles is coming off a series versus the Giants. The Dodgers split the first pair in that set, then in the Thursday rubber match LA lost in a shutout. As for the Diamondbacks, they played the Rangers this week. Arizona lost Tuesday but bounced back with a one-run victory in game two. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Los Angeles took a rough 2-1 loss against the Giants on Tuesday, but managed an 8-0 shutout win to even the series Wednesday. On Thursday, LA couldn’t get anything going on just four hits and lost 5-0. Starter David Price lasted 4.1 innings with four hits, three walks, two Ks and three earned runs.

For the starter job in the Friday opener, the Dodgers are giving the ball to Tony Gonsolin. This season Gonsolin holds a 2-1 record alongside a 2.38 ERA and 41 strikeouts.

Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they fell 5-4 to the Rangers on Tuesday, then eked out a 3-2 win in the Wednesday rematch. Arizona starter Madison Bumgarner lasted 7.0 innings with four hits, two earned, one walk and four Ks in that one.

For Friday’s starter gig, the Diamondbacks are going with Zac Gallen. This year over 50.2 innings of work Gallen has 45 hits, 28 runs (27 earned), seven homers allowed, 26 walks, 61 strikeouts and a 4.80 ERA overall.

The Dodgers are 19-7 in their last 26 Friday games and 67-31 in their last 98 versus the NL West. LA is 42-20 in their last 62 in game one of a series and 153-75 in their last 228 versus a right-handed starter.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 1-8 in their last nine after an off day and 2-15 in their last 17 Friday games. Arizona is 14-49 in their last 63 overall and 14-46 in their last 60 versus a team with a winning record.

PICK: I’m taking a stab on the Diamondbacks here. That’s somewhat contingent on Gallen having a bounce-back start, though. He was rough versus the Cubs his last time up, surrendering seven earned on six hits, two homers and three walks in 4.0 innings. That said, Gallen had a decent run going before that, with seven earned in 17.1 innings across four starts. If Gallen can keep the damage minimal I think Arizona could have a window for a victory.
