The Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres meet in an NL West division matchup in MLB action from Petco Park on Friday night.

The Colorado Rockies will look to bounce back from a 3-0 loss in Thursday’s matchup. Charlie Blackmon went 2 for 4 with a double while Trevor Story added a double as well. Brendan Rodgers and Raimel Tapia each had a base hit as well as the Rockies had just five hits as a team in the loss. Kyle Freeland took the loss, falling to 1-6 on the year after allowing one run on eight hits while striking out four over six innings of work. Jon Gray will start here and is 6-6 with a 3.67 ERA and 91 strikeouts this season.

The San Diego Padres will look to build on their victory over Colorado from Thursday night. Jake Cronenworth led the charge with a two-run home run while Fernando Tatis Jr. had a double and an RBI to finish off the scoring for the Padres in the win. Tommy Pham went 2 for 3 with a double while Manny Machado had a two-bagger as well and Eric Hosmer added a pair of hits. Austin Nola and Wil Myers each had a hit as well to finish off San Diego’s offense as a team in the win. Joe Musgrove got the win to improve to 7-7 on the year after tossing seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out 11 on the way to the victory. Mark Melancon closed the deal in the 9th for his 32nd save of the season. Ryan Weathers will start here and is 4-2 with a 2.73 ERA and 46 strikeouts this season.

Colorado is 6-2 in their last 8 games against a left-handed starter and 12-41 in their last 53 road games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 division games. San Diego is 26-10 in their last 36 home games and 20-9 in their last 29 games as a favorite while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record.

I keep finding myself wanting to take a shot with the Rockies on the road, but the issue is that Colorado keeps losing and while the value is there, the losses are as well. Ryan Weathers doesn’t normally go deep into games, but he’s been solid and I think the Padres do enough to get the win here so give me San Diego here.
