The Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers meet Sunday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. This will be the final installment in a three-game series over the weekend between these teams. The Mariners powered out a win Friday in the opener, then on Saturday the Rangers evened it up with an extra-innings victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Seattle scored seven runs in the first two innings Friday, cruising to an eventual 9-5 victory. In the Saturday game, the Mariners had an early lead but couldn’t hold it in a rough 5-4 loss. Tyler Anderson managed 5.1 innings with six hits and three earned runs in the start.

For the starter job in the Sunday game, the Mariners will go with Marco Gonzales. This year Gonzales has a 3-5 record with a 5.48 ERA and 56 strikeouts.
Over on the Rangers’ side, they managed some life offensively in the later innings on

Friday, but it wasn’t enough. On Saturday, Texas saw a 3-2 edge disappear before some heroics in the bottom of the 10th on the way to a walk-off win. Taylor Hearn finished with 3.2 innings, three hits, one walk and no earned.

For Sunday’s starter gig, the Rangers are sending out Mike Foltynewicz. In his 106.0 innings of work this year, Foltynewicz has 119 hits, 74 runs (72 earned), 31 homers allowed, 25 walks, 77 Ks and a 6.11 ERA.

Seattle is 7-2 in their last nine Sunday games and 20-8 in their last 28 with a total of 7.0-8.5. The over is 17-5-1 in the Mariners’ last 23 road games with a total of 7.0-8.5 and 10-4 in their last 14 road games.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are 14-40 in their last 54 overall and 0-5 in their last five Sunday games. Texas is 0-6 in their last six in game three of a series and the under is 4-1-1 in their last six in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Seattle. Foltynewicz has been really rough over his last two outings versus the Blue Jays and Tigers. In that pair, Foltynewicz put up just 5.2 combined innings with 13 hits, 16 runs (15 earned), four walks, four Ks and a whopping seven homers. Foltynewicz has given up 12 homers during his last four games. He’s going to need quite a turnaround to keep Texas in this one.
