Olympic Baseball: Israel vs. South Korea Picks, Odds, Predictions 8/1/2021

Israel and South Korea face off late on Sunday night in a round 2 matchup of the Olympic baseball tournament. These two teams faced off earlier in the Olympics and it was South Korea that came away with the 5-5 victory. That game went into extra innings with South Korea pulling it out.

Israel didn’t look great in their first two games of the Olympics, but they turned it on in the last game against Mexico, winning 12-5. Israel had a couple of big innings finishing with five runs in the 3rd inning and six runs in the seventh inning, which helped them cruise to the comfortable victory. For Israel the offense has been a balanced attack, and in the last game it was Danny Valencia and Nick Rickles who drove in three runs. At times the pitching has really struggled for this team and that has to be a concern going into this game, If Israel wants to win they need the pitching to be good.

On the other side of this matchup is South Korea who had to beat the Dominican Republic 4-3 to get to this point. South Korea has played with fire most of these Olympics and it was the case against the Domincan Republic. South Korea was down 3-1 heading into the 9th, but they scored four runs, and finished with the victory. Kim Hyun-Soo was the hero hitting a walk off home run in the 9th inning and leading South Korea to the improbable victory. In this game, SOuth Korea needs to get out to a fast start, and they are going to need to have good pitching to slow down the hot bats of Israel.

Israel has the stronger bats right now and they are going to get the job done in this game. Look for Israel to find their offensive success early, and they will have no issue getting the job done. Back Israel on the money line.
