The Washington Nationals host the Philadelphia Phillies in MLB action from Nationals Park on Monday.

The Philadelphia Phillies will look to build on their 15-4 rout of the Pirates in their last game. J.T. Realmuto had five hits with a pair of doubles and four RBIs while Didi Gregorius and Jean Segura each had a double and three RBIs. Odubel Herrera and Alec Bohm each had two hits with two RBIs while Brad Miller added an RBI as well to make up the scoring for the Phillies in the win. Bryce Harper had three hits while Travis Jankowski, Ronald Torreyes and Rafael Marchan each had base hits to make up the rest of Philadelphia’s offense as a team in the win.Kyle Gibson got the win to improve his overall record to 7-3 after allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out five over 6.2 innings of work. Ranger Suarez will start here and is 5-3 with a 1.12 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season.

The Washington Nationals will look to build off of a 6-5 win over the Chicago Cubs from Sunday’s series finale. Yadiel Hernandez went 4 for 5 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs while Josh Bell went 2 for 5 with two RBIs. Adrian Sanchez, Rene Rivera, Gerardo Parra and Carter Kieboom each had a base hit to finish off Washington’s offense as a team in the win. Erick Fedde gave up three runs on four hits while striking out eight over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Kyle Finnegan got the win in relief to improve to 4-2 on the year. Josiah Gray will start here and is 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season.

Philadelphia is 1-4 in their last 5 road games and 19-39 in their last 58 road games against a right-handed starter while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 Monday games. Washington is 4-1 in their last 5 Monday games and 3-8 in their last 11 games against a left-handed starter while the under is 15-6 in their last 21 series-opening games.

I’m not rushing to the window to back either of these teams as it looks like a potential bullpen game could be on the horizon. With that said though, I’ll lean towards the Phillies simply because I feel that the Nationals are waving the white flag on the season by unloading a bunch of assets at the deadline while the Phillies actually tried getting better at the deadline and Ranger Suarez has actually pitched capably this season. Give me the Phils in this spot.
