The San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet Monday in MLB action from Chase Field. San Francisco is coming off a weekend series versus the Astros. The Giants split the first pair in that set, then on Sunday San Francisco notched a two-run win to take the series. As for the Diamondbacks, they played the Dodgers in their last series. Arizona also split the first two games, then in the Sunday rubber match the Diamondbacks got blown out in a rough loss. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Francisco posted a 9-6 loss at the hands of the Astros on Friday, but had a better game Saturday in an 8-6 win. In the Sunday game, the Giants had 10 team hits in a 5-3 win. Logan Webb lasted 6.0 innings with seven hits, two earned and one walk.

For the Monday starter job, the Giants will send out Anthony DeSclafani. This year DeSclafani has 21 starts with a 10-5 record, a 3.10 ERA and 113 Ks in 122.0 innings of work.

Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they posted a 6-5 win over the Dodgers on Friday but lost the Saturday game 8-3. On Sunday in the rubber match, Arizona gave up 14 hits in a bad 13-0 defeat. Starter Caleb Smith managed 1.2 innings with three hits, five walks and five earned.

The Diamondbacks will go with Taylor Widener in the start Monday. In his 36.2 innings this year, Widener has 36 hits, 20 runs (18 earned), eight homers allowed, 16 walks, 36 Ks and a 4.42 ERA.

The Giants are 7-2 in their last nine Monday games and 21-8 in their last 29 in game one of a series. The over is 4-1 in the Giants’ last five in game one of a series and the under is 13-6-1 in the last 20 road games.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 3-7 in their last 10 Monday games and 15-50 in their last 65 overall. Arizona is 6-16 in their last 22 in game one of a series and the under is 4-0 in their last four Monday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Giants. Widener has had some trouble over his last two starts, posting a combined 10 earned runs with six walks and three homers in 8.1 innings total. DeSclafani is coming off a bad start himself however, with 2.2 innings, six hits, four earned and two walks. If DeSclafani can get five or six decent innings logged here, San Francisco should be okay.
