The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Tuesday in MLB action from Miller Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game set this week. In the series opener on Monday, the Brewers posted a blowout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Pittsburgh played the Phillies over the weekend, winning the Friday and Saturday games but falling 15-4 on Sunday. In the Monday game versus the Brewers, the Pirates couldn’t get anything going until the ninth in a 6-2 loss. Bryse Wilson managed 5.0 innings with two hits, one earned and two walks.

For the starter gig in the Tuesday game, the Pirates are sending out Max Kranick. In his 16.0 innings this year Kranick has 21 hits, 13 earned runs, one homer allowed, five walks, 14 Ks and a 7.31 ERA.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they played a trio versus the Braves over the weekend, losing Saturday but otherwise taking the other pair. In the Monday game, Milwaukee notched five runs in the sixth and seventh innings on the way to the victory. Eric Lauer lasted 5.0 frames with no earned, no walks, three hits and three Ks.

For the starter gig in the Tuesday game two, the Brewers are going with Adrian Houser. Over 97.2 innings this year Houser has 90 hits, 46 runs (40 earned), 11 homers allowed, 43 Ks, 76 strikeouts and a 3.69 ERA.

The Pirates are 16-35 in their last 51 with a total of 7.0-8.5 and 39-90 in their last 129 versus a team with a winning record. Pittsburgh is 24-64 in their last 88 road games and 15-38 in their last 53 versus the NL Central.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 21-6 in their last 27 versus a right-handed starter and 20-8 in their last 28 versus the NL Central. Milwaukee is 39-18 in their last 57 overall and the under is 5-0-1 in their last six Tuesday games.

PICK: I’m sticking with the Brewers. Houser has completed 5.0 innings just once in his last four outings, but the good news is that he’s given up just four earned in 15.1 innings on 13 hits in that stretch. (And all four earned came in one game.) As for Kranick, he’s given up 10 earned on 17 hits in 8.0 innings across his last two starts. If Houser can manage a quality start in this one Milwaukee should be just fine.
