The Los Angeles Angels and the Cleveland Indians meet Saturday in MLB action from Progressive Field. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. Los Angeles played the Tigers this week, and managed a three-game sweep. In the Friday opener versus the Indians, the Angels gave up five runs in the first two innings during a 9-1 defeat. Jaime Barria had 2.0 innings with six hits, three Ks and five earned in the start.

For the starter job in the Saturday game, the Angels will send out Reid Detmers. In his 15.1 innings of work this year so far, Detmers has 16 hits, 12 earned runs, four homers allowed, six walks and 13 Ks.

Over on the Cleveland side, they managed a Tuesday win versus the Twins this week but lost the other two games. In the Friday matchup, the Indians recorded 15 team hits in the blowout win. Sam Hentges was able to put up 4.0 innings with three hits, one walk and one earned.

For the starting pitcher gig in the Saturday game, the Indians will send out Triston McKenzie. This year McKenzie is 2-5 with a 5.12 ERA and 99 Ks.

The Angels are 2-8 in their last 10 in game two of a series and 18-43 in their last 61 road games with a total of 7.0-8.5. The under is 9-3 in LA’s last 12 in game two of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games.

Meanwhile, the Indians are 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series and 1-5 in their last six versus a lefty starter. The under is 3-1-1 in Cleveland’s last five in game two of a series and 9-4-1 in the last 14 Saturday games.

PICK: I’m probably going to stick with the Angels here. That’s somewhat contingent on Detmers having another good outing, though. In his first two appearances this year, Detmer posted a total of 9.1 innings with 13 hits, three homers, four walks and 11 earned runs. He was better in his last outing, though; Detmers is coming off 6.0 innings versus the Astros with one earned, three hits and two walks. Another quality start like that and LA should be in good shape for Saturday’s game.
