The Chicago White Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays meet Saturday in MLB action from Tropicana Field. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. In the Friday opener, Chicago posted an extra-innings victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.
Chicago played the A’s this week, winning the first three games before a Thursday loss. In the Friday opener versus the Rays, the White Sox bagged two runs in the top of the 11th inning on the way to a 7-5 victory. Lucas Giolito managed 7.0 innings with two earned on three hits.
For the starter gig in the Saturday game two, the Sox will send out Dallas Keuchel. Across his 130.2 innings so far, Keuchel has 130 hits, 73 runs (65 earned), 22 homers allowed, 44 walks, 79 Ks and a 4.48 ERA.
Over on the Rays’ side, they played the Orioles this week. Tampa didn’t have much trouble there, taking a four-game sweep. On Friday, the Rays had three errors and gave up 11 hits in the defeat. Michael Wacha got the start and went 5.0 innings with three earned and eight hits.
Starting pitcher for the Rays on Saturday will be Luis Patino. In 45.2 innings this year Patino has 40 hits, 27 runs (24 earned), eight homers allowed, 20 walks, 48 Ks and a 4.73 ERA.

The Sox are 11-5 in their last 16 road games versus a right-handed starter and 12-4 in their last 16 versus the AL East. The over is 5-1-1 in Chicago’s last seven Saturday games and the under is 8-3-2 in their last 13 road games.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 22-8 in their last 30 Saturday games and 85-37 in their last 122 home games. Tampa is 79-35 in their last 114 on turf and 17-7 in their last 24 versus the AL Central.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Tampa. Patino is going to need a solid outing here, though. Over his last three starts, Patino has been up and down with nine earned runs on 13 hits in 14.0 innings of work. As for Keuchel, he’s given up six earned on nine hits, six walks and two homers in 11.0 innings over his last two. I like Keuchel to put up a good outing in this one prior to Tampa banging out a win in the later innings.
