The Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox meet in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field on Friday night.

The Boston Red Sox will look to build off of their 2-1 win over Tampa Bay from Wednesday’s matchup. Hunter Renfroe’s two-run home run was the difference here as the Red Sox would only plate those two runs in the 8th inning. J.D. Martinez had a double while Enrique Hernandez, Rafael Devers, Alex Verdugo and Danny Santana all had hits to make up the offense for the Red Sox in the win. Nathan Eovaldi threw seven shutout innings in the start, allowing just three hits while striking out eight over seven innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Garrett Richards got the win in relief to improve to 7-7 while Hansel Robles closed the 9th for his 12th save of the season. Tanner Houck will start here and is 0-3 with a 3.26 ERA and 62 strikeouts this season.

The Chicago White Sox will try to bounce back from a 3-1 loss at the hands of Oakland in their last game. Jose Abreu had a pair of hits with an RBI while Luis Robert had a pair of hits of his own. Billy Hamilton added a triple while Cesar Hernandez and Romy Gonzalez each had base hits as well to end the offense for the White Sox in the defeat. Reynaldo Lopez took the loss, falling to 3-2 on the year after allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out a pair over five innings of work. The White Sox didn’t have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was published.

Boston is 17-4 in their last 21 Friday games and 5-2 in their last 7 games against the AL Central while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 road games. Chicago is 4-1 in their last 5 Friday games and 62-28 in their last 90 home games while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 Friday games.

I get that the Red Sox are in dire need of a win, to keep up in the playoff race at the very least, but the win simply hasn’t come often with Tanner Houck on the mound and I’m not rushing to the window to back him even if he’s pitched well in a stating capacity. The White Sox are playing well in their own right but returning home after their disappointing finish at the hands of Oakland and I think getting home will do just that. Give me the White Sox here.
