The San Diego Padres will attempt to build on an 8-5 win over the Angels on Wednesday night. Adam Frazier led the way, going 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs while Wil Myers, Eric Hosmer, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jake Cronenworth each had an RBI with Cronenworth adding a pair of hits as well. Victor Caratini and Manny Machado each had a base hit as well to finish off the offense for the Padres in the winning effort. Yu Darvish got the win to improve to 8-9 after allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven over six innings of work. Mark Melancon closed out the 9th for his 37th save of the season. Joe Musgrove will start here and is 10-8 with a 2.87 ERA and 173 strikeouts this season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to rebound from a 2-1 loss at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Trea Turner had a pair of hits with a double and the Dodgers’ lone RBI while Max Muncy added a double as well and Mookie Betts had a base hit of his own as the Dodgers had just four hits as a team in the losing effort. Tony Gonsolin allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts over three innings of work in the start, but it was Phil Bickford that took the loss in relief to fall to 3-2 on the year. Julio Urias will start here and is 16-3 with a 3.11 ERA and 168 strikeouts this season.

I get that Musgrove can be an attractive option with his air-tight ERA and solid arm. However, the Padres continue to struggle to put consistent performances together, which is mainly why Musgrove doesn’t have a better record as that’s been the case of Musgrove’s season as the Padres just can’t support him. The Dodgers had issues in a tight series against the Cardinals and they’re also having major issues at the plate as well. Give me the under in this one.
