The Colorado Rockies and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Saturday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. This will be the third installment in a four-game series. The Rockies eked out a one-run win in the opener, then on Friday Colorado kept it going with a big victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Colorado posted three runs in the ninth inning on Thursday to notch a nice comeback win 4-3 in the opener. In game two Friday, the Rockies posted five runs in the ninth on the way to an 11-2 victory. German Marquez put up 6.0 innings with no earned on six hits and a walk.

For the starter job in the Saturday game, the Rockies will go with Kyle Freeland. This year Freeland is 5-7 with a 4.69 ERA and 87 strikeouts.

Over on the Phillies’ side, they had a 2-1 lead heading into the final inning Thursday but couldn’t hold it. In Friday’s matchup, Philly gave up three runs in the second and it didn’t get any better from there. Bailey Falter lasted just 0.1 frames with three earned on two walks and two hits.

Starting pitcher for the Phillies on Saturday will be Zack Wheeler. Across 188.2 innings this year Wheeler has 152 hits, 67 runs (61 earned), 15 homers allowed, 40 walks, 217 Ks and a 2.91 ERA.

The Rockies are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games and 9-2 in their last 11 in game three of a series. Colorado is 19-51 in their last 70 road games and 24-61 in their last 85 road games versus a team with a winning record.

Meanwhile, the Phillies are 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series and 7-3 in their last 10 versus a team with a losing record. The under is 6-0 in the Phillies’ last six Saturday games as well.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Colorado in this one. The good news for Philly here is that Wheeler is coming off 6.0 clean frames with five hits, nine strikeouts and no walks versus the Brewers in his last outing. The bad news is that Wheeler had 19 earned runs across his previous four starts, posting 26 hits in 26.2 frames. I think Wheeler will finish somewhere near a quality start here, but the Rockies should have some scoring opportunities if he’s not on point.
