The Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins meet in an AL Central division matchup in MLB action from Target Field on Sunday.

The Kansas City Royals will look to bounce back from a 9-2 loss at the hands of the Twins on Saturday. Andrew Benintendi and Hunter Dozier each went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI with Dozier belting a pair of doubles to make up the scoring for KC in the loss. Hanser Alberto also went 2 for 4 with a double and Nicky Lopez went 2 for 4 also while Salvador Perez and Whit Merrifield each had a base hit as well in defeat. Brady Singer took the loss, falling to 4-10 after allowing six earned runs on seven hits while striking out seven over 4.2 innings of work. Kris Bubic will start here and is 4-6 with a 5.07 ERA and 95 strikeouts this season.

The Minnesota Twins will attempt to build on Saturday’s win over KC. Jorge Polanco led the way with three hits including a pair of home runs and three RBIs while Jake Cave had two RBIs. Max Kepler, Byron Buxton and Nick Grdon each had a solo home run with Kepler adding a double as well. Ben Rortvedt had two hits with an RBI to cap off the scoring for Minnesota while Josh Donaldson added a base hit as well in the victory. Michael Pineda got the win to improve to 6-8 after allowing one run on five hits while striking out three over five innings of work.

Kansas City is 4-1 in their last 5 games as an underdog and 11-5 in their last 16 road games while the under is 21-6-3 in their last 30 Sunday games. Minnesota is 1-4 in their last 5 games as a home favorite and 8-3 in their last 11 division games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite.

I’m not trying to figure out what we’re going to get from either team for the most part over the final 20 or so games of the season, as both are just playing out the string and taking stock of the pieces for next year. With that said, I’m going back to the over here. These two teams can put runs up in bunches and while Saturday’s matchup was fairly one-sided, I think the two sides combine on Sunday to get us over the number.
