The Los Angeles Angels and the Chicago White Sox meet Tuesday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. The Angels are coming off a weekend series versus the Astros. LA won Saturday but lost the other two matchups in that set. As for the White Sox, they just finished up against the Red Sox. Chicago won two of three in those games. Los Angeles managed a win over the Astros 4-2 on Saturday, but lost the series with defeats 10-5 Friday and 3-1 on Sunday. In the finale game, Angels starter Jaime Barria gave up one earned run on four hits and four walks in 4.0 frames.

For the starter job in the Tuesday game, the Angels will send out Packy Naughton. Over his four games (two starts) this year Naughton has an 0-1 record and a 2.57 ERA with nine Ks in 14.0 innings.

Over on the White Sox’ side, they fell to the Red Sox 9-8 Saturday but otherwise managed wins 4-3 Friday and 2-1 on Sunday in the Laundry Series. Sunday starter Lance Lynn was solid on 5.0 clean frames with two hits, no walks and nine Ks.

For the starting pitcher gig in the Tuesday matchup, the White Sox didn’t initially announce a name.

The Angels are 4-0 in their last four Tuesday games and 5-1 in their last six after an off day. LA is 12-5 in their last 17 versus the AL Central and 2-5 in their last seven overall.

Meanwhile, the Sox are 4-0 in their last four Tuesday games and 11-2 in their last 13 in game one of a series. Chicago is 19-7 in their last 26 at home versus a lefty starter and 64-29 in their last 93 home games.

PICK: I’m going to try the White Sox here. I do like Naughton to pitch well, however. He’s been pretty solid in his last three games outside of 3.2 innings with three earned versus the Yankees. In the other pair of that trio, Naughton has zero earned on five hits and four walks in 9.1 innings. Still, Chicago had a good series against Boston over the weekend and I like the White Sox to keep it going with another tight victory in this one.
