The Oakland A’s and the Kansas City Royals meet in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Oakland A’s will try to bounce back from a 4-3 loss at the hands of Texas in Sunday’s series finale. All of Oakland’s damage on the scoreboard came via long balls as Matt Olson had a two-run home run and Yan Gomes added a solo blast of his own as well in the defeat. Starling Marte had a pair of hits and Josh Harrison added a base hit as well to cap off Oakland’s offense as the A’s had just five hits as a team in the losing effort. James Kaprielian took the loss, falling to 7-5 on the year after allowing four earned runs on eight hits while striking out five over 3.2 innings of work. Frankie Montas will start here and is 12-9 with a 3.57 ERA and 181 strikeouts this season.

The Kansas City Royals will look to build on their 5-3 win over the Twins from Sunday’s series finale. Whit Merrifield had three hits with a pair of doubles and an RBI and Adalberto Mondesi added a solo home run as well. Andrew Benintendi had a pair of hits with an RBI while Sal Perez and Kyle Isbel each had RBIs as well to cap off the Royals’ scoring as a team in the win. Ryan O’Hearn, Nicky Lopez and Sebastian Rivero each had base hits as well to finish off the offense for KC in the win. Kris Bubic allowed two runs on four hits with six K’s over 5.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Jake Brentz got the win to improve to 4-2 on the year while Scott Barlow closed the deal for his 12th save of the season. Jackson Kowar will start here and is 0-3 with a 9.53 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season.

Oakland is 2-5 in their last 7 Tuesday games and 14-6 in their last 20 games following an off day while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games following a loss. Kansas City is 7-1 in their last 8 series-opening games and 2-5 in their last 7 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following an off day.

I’m not leaning any specific way in terms of a side here, as both offenses have been putting runs on the board. My initial lean was towards the under, but after giving it some thought, I’m going towards the over instead. Kowar was torched by the A’s earlier this season and he hasn’t been anything especial now that i really dive into his numbers, and I’m sure the Royals will get their against Montas and the Oakland ‘Pen. Give me the over.
