Seattle played a series versus the Red Sox this week, winning Monday before dropping the remaining pair and losing the series. On Friday versus KC, the Mariners had 10 hits during a 6-2 win. Chris Flexen put up 5.2 innings with one earned on six hits and two walks.
Starting pitcher for the Saturday game will be Seattle’s Yusei Kikuchi. This year over 151.0 innings Kikuchi has 134 hits, 76 runs (71 earned), 27 homers allowed, 58 walks, 157 Ks and a 4.23 ERA.
Over on the Royals’ side, they managed a Tuesday win over the A’s but similarly lost the other two games. On Friday, Kansas City had nine team hits in the defeat. John Heasley managed 4.0 innings with four earned on six hits.
For the starting pitcher gig in the Saturday game the Royals will send out Kris Bubic. In 110.0 innings of work this year Bubic has 110 hits, 63 runs (61 earned), 21 homers allowed, 54 walks, 101 Ks and a 4.99 ERA.

The Mariners are 4-1 in their last five versus a lefty starter and 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games. The over is also 4-0 in Seattle’s last four in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 28-67 in their last 95 versus the AL West and 2-5 in their last seven at home versus a lefty starter. KC is also 4-12 in their last 16 Saturday games.
PICK: I’m going to try the Royals in this one. Bubic has been pretty decent over his last two starts, giving up a total of four earned on 10 hits and two walks in 10.2 innings. As for Kikuchi, he had a rough outing in Houston to kick off the month (1.2 innings; six runs), but bounced back with one earned on six hits in 5.0 innings his last time up. I think both starters will put up good showings here, with KC eking out a late win. Should be a fun matchup.
