The Oakland A’s and the Los Angeles Angels meet in an AL West division matchup in MLB action from Angel Stadium on Friday night.

The Oakland A’s will look to build on their 7-2 win over the Kansas City Royals last time out. Josh Harrison had four hits with a double and two RBIs while Chad Pinder had a pair of hits with two RBIS as well and Mark Canha added an RBI in the victory. Matt Olson added a double of his own while Starling Marte and Elvis Andrus each had base hits as well to finish off the offense for the A’s in the winning effort. Paul Blackburn got the win to improve to 1-2 on the year after allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three over five innings of work. Cole Irvin will start here and is 9-13 with a 4.04 ERA and 109 strikeouts this season.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to build on their win over the White Sox by a final score of 9-3 from Thursday. Jack Mayfield led the way with a double and four RBIs for the Angels while Luis Rengifo and Jose Rojas each had a two-run home run for the Angels in the win. Jared Walsh had a pair of hits with an RBI to finish off the scoring for the Halos in the winning effort while Shohei Ohtani went 2 for 4 and Max Stassi and Brandon Marsh each had base hits as well to cap off the offense for the Angels in the victory. Alex Cobb got the win to improve to 8-3 on the year after tossing five innings of two-hit shutout ball, striking out five on the way to the win. The Angels didn’t have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted.

Oakland is 36-17 in their last 53 Friday games and 2-5 in their last 7 series-opening games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Los Angeles is 15-38 in their last 53 Friday games and 1-4 in their last 5 division games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 Friday games.

I get why you’d back the Angels at home, but I’m just not high on how the Angels are playing down the stretch. The A’s haven’t been all that great either and I’m not a huge Cole Irvin guy, but Oakland is one of those teams that’s been used to winning in September in recent years and I just don’t think that there’s much else to look at other than the A’s on the road in this one.
