The Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants meet in MLB action from Truist Park on Sunday.
The Atlanta Braves will look to rebound from a 2-0 loss at the hands of the Giants last time out. Jorge Soler had a double while Freddie Freeman, Austin Riley and Eddie Rosario each had base hits to cap off the offense as the Braves had just five hits as a team in the loss. Charlie Morton took the loss, falling to 13-6 after allowing two runs on four hits over five innings of work. Max Fried will start here and is 11-7 with a 3.47 ERA this season.
The San Francisco Giants will look to pick up another win after their win on Saturday. Curt Casali had both of San Francisco’s RBIs in the win while Tommy La Stella had a double. Brandon Crawford added a pair of hits while Kris Bryant added a hit as well to finish off the Giants’ offense as San Fran has just five hits as a team in the victory. Alex Wood threw three perfect innings in the start but it was Zack Littell that got the win in relief to improve to 4-0 on the year while Dominic Leone closed the 9th for his 2nd save. Anthony DeSclafani will start here and is 12-6 with a 3.24 ERA this season.
Atlanta is 61-30 in their last 91 Sunday games and 2-6 in their last 8 road games while the under is 8-2-2 in their last 12 games against the NL West. San Francisco is 7-1 in their last 8 Sunday games and 20-8 in their last 28 games against the NL East while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record.
This is an interesting game as both teams could use the win and this is a potential playoff series if we are lucky. However, I haven’t liked what I’ve seen from DeSclafani as of late and Fried has to show that he’s ready for these big games because we will likely see him in a starting capacity in the postseason. Either way, a home coin flip price with the Giants is tempting but I think the Braves steal this one. Give me Atlanta.
