The New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox meet in MLB action from Fenway Park on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets will look to build on their 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies from Sunday night baseball in their last outing. Dominic Smith had a pinch-hit two run double while Jeff McNeil added a solo home run to make up the scoring for the Mets in the winning effort. Tomas Nido added a double while Rich Hill, Javier Baez and Francisco Lindor all had base hits to cap off New York’s offense in the victory. Hill allowed two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts over 4.2 innings of work, but it was Aaron Loup that got the win in relief to improve to 6-0 on the year while Edwin Diaz closed the 9th for his 30th save. Marcus Stroman is expected to start here and is 9-12 with a 2.88 ERA and 151 strikeouts this season.

The Boston Red Sox will try to build on their 8-6 win over the Baltimore Orioles in their last game. Enrique Hernandez and Kevin Plawecki each had two RBIs with Hernandez going 2 for 3 with a double while J.D. Martinez had a solo home run and Hunter Renfroe had a pair of hits with a double and an RBI. Rafael Devers and Bobby Dalbec each had RBIs as well to finish off the scoring for the Red Sox in the win while Alex Verdugo and Jose Iglesias each contributed a double to round out Boston’s offense. Nathan Eovaldi allowed three runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts, not factoring in the decision. Hirokazu Sawamura got the win in relief to improve to 5-1 while Garrett Richards closed the 9th for his 3rd save. Eduardo Rodriguez will start here and is 11-8 with a 5.00 ERA and 165 strikeouts this season.

New York is 14-4 in their last 18 games following an off day and 7-3 in their last 10 interleague games while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 road games against a left-handed starter. Boston is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 Tuesday games.

I get the case that could be made for both sides as both need the win, maybe the Mets a bit more. However, these are two starters in Stroman and Rodriguez that have been beat up all season long and I think that there’s enough pop in both lineups to get us over this number.
